Vashu Bhagnani gets Pelli Choopulu rights

Vashu wants to remake the film in Hindi with his son Jackky Bhagnani.

When small-budget Telugu film Pelli Choopulu became a stupendous success, it became a talking point in the Bollywood circles with Salman Khan vying for its rights. But now, the superstar has dropped the idea and producer Vashu Bhagnani has brought the rights. “It’s official; we’ve just signed the agreement,” says Raj Kandukuri, the Telugu film’s producer. Vashu wants to remake the film in Hindi with his son Jackky Bhagnani. Earlier, Raj had met Khan’s team and the deal was almost done. “Salman Khan wanted Tharun Basckar, who directed the Telugu version, to direct the Hindi film too but since Tharun didn’t show any interest, Salman dropped the idea,” says Raj.

Vashu has requested the Telugu makers to help them whenever they need and they’ve agreed. Though he didn’t want to divulge the details of the money, sources say that they brought the rights for '51 lakhs, which is a good amount for a small Telugu film. Also, recently, the Tamil remake rights were brought by Gautham Vasudev.
