Rajkumar Hirani based his Sanjay Dutt biopic on their phone calls
Ranbir Kapoor has stepped into Sanjay Dutt’s shoes for Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic on the actor.
The biopic will essay Sanjay’s trials and tribulations and detail the time the actor spent in Yerwada Jail. The filming for the movie began on February 25, the same date that Sanjay walked out of prison. Rajkumar’s cameras were placed outside the jailhouse to record this walk to freedom.
Now, latest reports reveal that the director has based the project on a number of recorded telephonic conversations with Sanjay while he was in jail.
A close source reveals, “When Rajkumar Hirani started doing research for his next film, he used to talk to Sanjay and recorded the conversations to avoid missing any anecdotes. The two also used to meet every day for a month. After the director finished his research, he wrote the screenplay completely based on these recordings.”
