Legendary choreographer Saroj Khan’s life and career provides rich scope, in terms of emotion, drama and colour, for a biopic, and Remo D’Souza, who will be directing the venture, says he will be roping in three to four actresses to portray Saroj at different stages of her life.
“No single heroine will be able to do justice to Saroj from her entry into the industry until the end,” explained Remo.
Asked to name heroines who would fit the role, Remo would only say that he would be able to visualise the ideal heroine for each stage of life when he started working on the minute details of the script. Nothing has been decided at the moment, he stressed.
However, what is certain is that Madhuri Dixit will have a role in the film. Pressed to say whether the actress, whose iconic Ek-do-teen dance was a creation of the gifted choreographer, would play the young Saroj right up to middle-age, Remo said “we have to sit down with her daughter to decide all of that. But first, we have to complete the script of the biopic. The casting will be one of the final steps.”
However, he agreed that chronicling the noted choreographer’s life will not be complete without casting Madhuri Dixit in the biopic, as Saroj Khan had played such a pivotal role in her career. “When it comes to dancing, Madhuri Dixit and Sarojji are synonymous with each other,” said Remo....
