I'd miss the attention if I didn't get it: Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt is no stranger to paparazzi intrusion in her life and she candidly admits that she enjoys every bit of attention she gets. Although there are times when it gets a little too much, says the young actress. “Of course there are times when it gets frustrating, when I can’t go to certain places with my friends, or when I am suddenly asked awkward questions by the paparazzi while I am out with my family. But these are minor irritants. Because at the end of the day, I am a limelight moth. I enjoy all the attention. I’ve craved for it since my childhood. So now when I am getting it, I can’t disown it. In fact, I’d miss the attention if I didn’t get it,” she says.
Her finesse in handling the flip side of a celebrity’s life could well be inborn. “You have to remember I grew up in a family with a famous father (filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt) who is always in the news. I’ve seen recognition and media attention from childhood.” The 23-year-old has learnt to strike a fine balance on social media too. “I realise this is the time in my life when everyone wants to know what is happening in my life. On social media I think I manage to create a certain balance between going public and staying private.” Alia continues, “I am not into tweeting about going to the bathroom. I do have places in my life that I want to guard against public exposure. And I’ll do that fiercely. I am an actor. But I am a human being first.”
