After Shaandaar debacle, Vikas Bahl all set to roll out next film

Vikas will reportedly make a film on Anand Kumar, a teacher who coached economically backward students for the IIT entrance exams.

After an unsuccessful run in the comedy genre, ‘Shaandaar’ director director Vikas Bahl, is all set to go the biopic way and helm a film on youth icon, Anand Kumar. Rumours were rife that the director’s next flick would either be a sequel to ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ or an untitled film with Kangana Ranaut and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead.

However, latest reports suggest that Vikas, who is best known for ‘Queen’, will direct a biopic on Kumar, a teacher who coached economically backward students for the IIT entrance exams, for free. Kumar started the Super 30 programme, which is believed to have helped his students crack the exams. The film that is being produced by Phantom films, will also reportedly have the same name. The makers are expected to release a formal announce shortly.

Post 'Shaandaar', Vikas' directorial credibility had been questioned and many said that his slice-of-life film 'Queen' was a fluke. The director took a break after his film failed to connect with the audience and tanked at the box office.

"I experimented with too many things. I think you just have to work harder to make your next film. And hopefully, you don't get written off as a director and the idea is to get back to the writing board and work harder for your next film," Vikas said in an interview.
