Pratyusha suicide case: Rahul cheated several girls, claims his ex-lawyer
Pratyusha Banerjee's boyfriend and producer Rahul Raj Singh has cheated several girls in the past, his former lawyer Neeraj Gupta has claimed.
Gupta, who had taken up Rahul Raj Singh's case soon after Pratyusha's suicide, dropped out Wednesday because he claims Rahul did not come out with the whole truth to him. Gupta has also claimed that Rahul was in constant touch with a few of his former girlfriends.
Gupta said while Rahul, in his statement, told the police that on the night of March 31, Pratyusha and he had organised a party in their house, he was actually spotted in a restaurant in Andheri (West) late the same day, just a few hours before Pratyusha’s death.

Rahul also told the police that Pratyusha had been drinking right from the night of March 31 till 2.30 pm on Friday. However, Mr Gupta raised doubts over Rahul’s statement saying that a girl who had been drinking the whole night could not have hung herself as such excessive consumption of alcohol would cause one to lose one’s senses and be unable to tie a noose.
Gupta claimed Rahul used to befriend girls only for their money, charm them and then get them addicted to alcohol and drugs. “It’s his modus operandi; he has cheated many other girls in a similar fashion,” Gupta said. He added Rahul had conned a girl named Heer Patel of Rs 25 lakh on the pretext of producing a film with her as lead.

Gupta asked police to check Rahul’s call data records, claiming he was in touch with several girls and one of his ex-girlfriends would often barge into their house to 'beat' Pratyusha. Gupta said Rahul would disappear every time his ex-girlfriend was about to arrive.
Gupta said Rahul led a lavish life well beyond his known sources of income. The lawyer also said Rahul spent Pratyusha’s money and when the money dried up, Pratyusha feared Rahul might leave her. “Pratyusha was depressed because she had already left her family, friends and her career for him and now feared Rahul would leave her too,” Gupta said.
Rahul is now in hospital. His doctor Santosh Goyal said he had initially thought the actor had a nausea problem but Rahul kept talking about Pratyusha. “He goes on crying ‘I want to be with her. I want to run away. She (Pratyusha) is alone’ so we are trying to take help from a psychotherapist,” Dr Goyal said. He also said Rahul would be discharged in two to three days.
Mumbai cops filed a case of 'abetment to suicide' against Rahul on Wednesday. A Mumbai court has also rejected his anticipatory bail plea.
