Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar to be conferred with honorary doctorate

Mumbai: Close on the heels of being awarded the Padma Shree by the Government of India, the national award filmmaker will be conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Arts by a Gujarat based Rai University at its annual convocation ceremony on Friday, 12th February, 2016.

In an official statement, the spokesperson from Rai University said, “We want to honour the hard work and commitment of the director who hails from a middle class, non-filmy background and has carved a unique space for his genre of cinema through his sheer perseverance and focus.”

When contacted, a delighted Madhur said, "I owe my success and recognition to the movies I have made and the whole team behind it. These recognitions are also a responsibility that push you to do better.”
