Who’s the ghost in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2??
Even as Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu start shooting from December this year for the balance 50% of their film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 across Lucknow and Mumbai, an uneasy calm prevails among many actors of the film — they are actually unaware of who would play the ghost in the film.
This is not, however, a first. Actors in many Bollywood films usually do not know what the climax in the film is till they end up shooting for it.
Film historian Imtiaz Baghdadi comments on the pattern. “One might recall that when Abbas and Mustan had made the 2006-thriller 36, China Town, all the principal actors including Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor were called to shoot for the climax of the film, for none of them knew who the killer was. Similarly, in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s 1973-drama, Namak Haram, neither Amitabh Bachchan nor Rajesh Khanna, the protagonists of the story, knew who among the two would die in the end. It seems filmmakers are now using the same trick for their movies, too,” he says.
Additionally, one of the trade sources with information on the matter gives us a little more insight. “Unlike the first part directed by Priyadarshan, which had an angle that suggested that the film could just be a psychological thriller and not just a horror comedy, the second part directed by Anees Bazmee will have a ghost in it,” adds the source.
Funnily, though the films’ actors are just as curious as we are about which of them gets to scare the bejesus of their audiences. Such fun, eh?
