Sanjay Dutt's misogynistic rant for an old Haywards 5000 ad has exploded on the net
Mumbai: Sanjay Dutt, the personification of 90's Bollywood machismo, was confronted by an unexpected predicament today, when a 2008 advertisement he'd done for Haywards 5000 back in 2008 resurfaced on the internet.
The ad in question has Sanjay, who recently was released from Yeravada Jail after finishing his sentence following his conviction in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, going on a blatantly misogynistic rant about men resorting to proverbially feminine traits and activities.
The actor, dubbing his 'campaign' as 'Mardangiri' is seen asking men to not emasculate themselves by indulging in such womanly (sarcasm intended) activities as cooking, grooming themselves, petting a poodle and growing their hair long.
Ironically enough, the actor has himself been seen doing the very things he's seen advising men against, many a time on-screen.
To be fair, the actor was probably enacting a script that was scripted by the agency in question, but that doesn't undermine the very regressive ideologies being purported as symbolism of manliness.
Incidentally, the director of the video, Jerrit G. John, had been arrested in 2012 for having thrown acid at his then girlfriend.
