There is widespread speculation on whether Priyanka Chopra Jonas is finally quitting Bollywood to focus on her life with husband Nick Jonas and her career in the US. However, sources in the know reveal that Priyanka is in talks with several filmmakers in Bollywood for possible projects.
“She is in negotiations with several prominent filmmakers, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar and Vishal Bhardawaj. She has no intentions of giving up her career in Hindi cinema,”a source revealed.
The problem, if any, is with her formidable image. “Priyanka can’t take any Bollywood assignment just because it has a big hero’s or a big director’s name attached to it. Her role has to say something. She’s being watched very closely by fans across the world,” says a director who is also friends with the actress.
This is why she chose to do a relatively small film like The Sky Is Pink, rather than a mammoth production like Bharat with Salman Khan.
There are several possibilities as to what Priyanka can do next in Bollywood, one of them being producing her next Indian film herself. Sources in the know say there is a ‘strong possibility’ of Priyanka starring in her next production. She already has her own production house in Mumbai that her mother captains. Priyanka can easily make the role and film of her choice happen.
Meanwhile in the West, the actress is working on a biopic on Ma Anand Sheela, who partnered with spiritual guru Acharya Rajneesh. The film will be directed by Barry Levinson.
