Ever since Priyanka Chopra Jonas has established herself as a global personality, her fashion game has become much more adventurous. As her each and every look becomes the talk of the town, her recent photoshoot for an international fashion magazine has also made headlines. In a shimmery gold saree by designer Tarun Tahiliani, the actress is seen baring her back on the cover of the magazine.

Sharing the look on Instagram, the actress wrote: “Fashion is such an important part of global culture, often arising from centuries of tradition, and doesn’t go out of style when the seasons change. The ‘Saree’ is one of the most iconic and recognized silhouettes from India. To me, its beauty lies in its versatility, not just in drape and fabric. It embodies elegance, femininity, and power, and I love how I feel when I’m wearing one.”

However, the actress’s attempts of celebrating saree did not go well with some netizens who started trolling Priyanka for shunning the blouse. One of the Instagram users wrote, “It’s misleading. It’s a saree that you can’t even tell is actually a saree. This is what people of colour always have to deal with. Get used for our “diversity card”, but hide what actually makes us diverse by forcing us to fit into a box that is more palatable to western taste. Another ridiculous travesty of inclusion. Thought priyanka was smarter than that.” Meanwhile, Tarun also shared his views on Pee Cee’s look on Instagram, writing,“Only Priyanka Chopra could bring her insouciance that she carries and take the alluring sultry persona from Bajirao Mastani across oceans and lands with the same surefooted agility on the cover of INSTYLE. Taking the saree global, proud of her identity and the versitality of the saree — a metaphor for her own versitality. The face of India globally.”
