Jacqueline reveals Salim Khan's hilarious reaction on her decision to learn Urdu

The actress talks about learning Urdu, her style statement, her motivation to join Bollywood and lots more.

Apart from learning Hindi, you are also trying your hand at Urdu?
Yes, I am learning Urdu now. It’s just the initial stage. However, I am first learning to read and write. Post this I will learn to speak Urdu. In Urdu, the diction has to be perfect. Certain Urdu words are really tough and hence, learning to read and write first will make speaking easier.

What was Salim Khan’s reaction to you learning the language?
Oh! He told me tum pehele Hindi theek se seekh lo, phir baad mein Urdu seekhna. (First learn Hindi properly, and then try to learn Urdu.)

How did you like shooting in Kashmir?
Kashmir is my favourite shooting location. While shooting for Race 3, Salman and I drove through the snow. We went on bike to Ladakh and rode through a pass close to the border. It took us three hours to reach our destination.

What is your style statement? Also, what do you think of Salman’s and Anil Kapoor’s style quotient?
Honestly, I don’t have any fashion statement. My funda is wear whatever you look good in. Salman’s style statement in reel and real life is unique. None of us can compete with him in that department. Anil Kapoor’s style statement, especially in Race 3, is sharp and he looks extremely handsome. After all, his daughter Rhea, who is an extremely talented designer, takes care of his designing needs.

Looking back, what do you make of your journey in the industry?
I think my journey in the industry has been slow and steady. With every film, I have gone a step ahead. I remember working in some not so good films. Today, I am constantly working and that makes me feel good. You feel so energetic and blessed. Also, if you deserve something, you will get it. If you don’t, it will not come to you. I am indeed happy with my journey.

What made you enter Bollywood?
When I first watched Devdas at the Cannes Film Festival, I returned home, called for a DVD and watched the film again. I found the film unbelievable; all the actors looked so amazing and their performances were so wonderful. Thereafter, I watched another Sanjay Leela film, Black, and it was so emotional and different. Having watched two films of Sanjay, I decided to come to India and work with him. My dream has not yet been fulfilled.
