Yesteryear actress Nutan's bungalow burgled, culprits arrested
Mumbai: Yesteryear actress Nutan’s bungalow atop Parsik hills in Mumbra is yet again in the news. On Saturday, police arrested a group of teenaged burglars for breaking into the mansion and fleeing with silverware and idols, and everything they could get hold of, which are worth 1 lakh rupees.
This is not the first time that Nutan’s bungalow has made headlines. Almost three years ago, a newborn’s body was found floating in the swimming pool of this unoccupied house. On Friday night, at around 3:45 am, six teenage burglars attacked three security guards stationed outside the bungalow with sharp weapons and broke into it.
“The gang lobbed stones at the guards and then attacked them. The accused entered the bungalow and picked up whatever they could before fleeing,” an officer was quoted as saying.
“The head of the security team, Kailash Tukaram Nigudkar, reported the incident to police on Friday morning and we alerted our informers. Soon, we got a tip-off about four youths from Kalwa slums boasting about a night ‘expedition’. Our team reached the spot and rounded of the boys. During interrogation, they confessed to having committed the crime,” added another officer said.
With quick money for alcohol consumption and drugs possession being the primary motive behind this crime, all four arrested teenagers- Chandan Satyendra Sinha (21), Uday Jhan (19), Suraj Tarkeshwar Singh (18) and Jitu Gutam (19) –have confessed to the crime and have revealed the identity of their accomplices.
