Urdu poet Nida Fazli passes away at 78

Fazli is especially known for his association with the late ghazal singer Jagjit Singh.

Mumbai: Renowned Urdu and Hindi poet Nida Fazli died in Mumbai on Monday at the age of 78. Born in Delhi on October 12, 1938 and raised in Gwalior, his original name was Mukhtda Hassan Nija Fazli.

Poet Nida Fazli passed away after suffering from a heart attack.

Nida Fazli began writing from an early age and after completing his graduation in Gwalior, he settled in Delhi. Fazli is especially known for his association with the late ghazal singer Jagjit Singh.

Some of his popular ghazals include ‘Hosh Walon Ko’, ‘Tu Is Tarah Se Meri Zindagi Mein Shaamil Hai’ and ‘Kiska Chehra’ to name a few.

He has also written lyrics for famous films and Television shows. He wrote the title song of TV serials like ‘Sailaab’, ‘Neem ka Pedh’, ‘Jaane Kya Baat Hui’ and ‘Jyoti’.
