Farhan Akhtar's film to finally release
The Fakir Of Venice directed by Anand Surapur will finally release after battling financial and legal issues. The film’s lead actor Farhan Akhtar also managed to put up a post along with the film’s trailer stating that the film will now release on January 18.
The Fakir Of Venice was ready over 12 years ago and was to release. But then the film ran into financial troubles as the Farhan Akhtar debut film was as good as lost for the world. The film which had Annu Kapoor in the lead — Annu was a big star as opposed to Farhan at that time — went into cold storage. The film was then revived and was to release again last year in January. But Bollywood entertainment major Pritish Nandy Communications has staked their claim on the film.
“Advocate Mahesh A. Mahadgut who represents PNC issued a public notice saying that the film is under lien with Pritish Nandy Communications since June 2011, and Surapur and his company Phat Phish could not enter into any agreement with any third party without obtaining an NOC from them. Finally, they managed to reach a compromise and the film will now release albeit without much publicity,” says our trade source.
