Shraddha's 'Saina' not financially feasible', Deepika to step in for star power?

Sources inform that Shraddha Kapoor may be replaced.

It’s not a good time to be Shraddha Kapoor. To begin with, the actress had two thundering flops in 2017. While her attempt to play gangster Haseena Parkar in 2017 was booed out of theatres, earlier during the year, trying to recreate the Aashiqui 2 magic with good friend Aditya Roy Kapoor in Shaad Ali’s Ok Jaanu completely backfired too.

And it looks like Shraddha’s cup of woes is not likely to turn into a tub of wows in 2018 either. There is more bad news for the 30-year-old. Her ambitious biopic on badminton champ Saina Nehwal has come to a dead end with the project being declared by insiders as “stalled indefinitely” — the film trade’s blow-softening method of saying the project is shelved.

In fact, reports coming in from Hyderabad suggest that the film is no more ‘financially feasible’ with Shraddha in the lead. “It needs a heftier star power. The producers are apparently trying to re-cast the project with Deepika Padukone in the lead. Her father was a badminton champ and she plays the game pretty well herself,” says a source in the know.

Shraddha had trained in Hyderabad with Saina herself. Director Amole Gupte had also prepped her completely to play the reel Nehwal.
