Kaalakaandi: If Padmavati comes in, we will shift our release, says Saif Ali Khan
Mumbai: Saif Ali Khan is all set to impress the audience with his new, quirky avatar in the dark comedy film ‘Kaalakaandi’. Helmed by Akshat Verma, this ensemble film is slated for a 12 January release, as of now. The uncertainty over the release date of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period film 'Padmavati' has left Saif Ali Khan worried over his film.
Saif Ali Khan has said that if Bhansali's controversial mega budget film hits the theatres in January, the makers of 'Kaalakaandi' will have to change their release date accordingly.
Talking about possible clash between these two film, Saif said, "If Padmavati comes in (on that day), we will think of shifting our release date. I hope we don’t have to do that. Kaalakaandi is a film I am proud of."
However, the 'Chef' actor also added, "Recently, we saw Secret Superstar and Golmaal Again releasing on the same day and both films did well. Personally, I feel it's a good time to have films releasing alongside one another. But filmmakers are wary about it and you need to take that into consideration."
Speaking on dark-comedy 'Kaalakaandi', Saif said, "The film is a cross-section of Mumbai with underworld goons, doomed bankers and idealistic lovers all mixed together in this karmic tale about love, crime and living a lifetime in one night!! I truly consider it to be one of my best films and am really forward to the release."
Kaalakaandi stars Saif Ali Khan along with the impressive ensemble of Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raaz, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Akshay Oberoi, Isha Talwar, Shenaz Treasury, Shivam Patil, Amyra Dastur, Nary Singh and Neil Bhoopalam. The film marks the directorial debut of 2011 'Delhi Belly' writer Akshat Verma.
