Daily Mail takes unjust dig at Deepika, calls her MTV look a blunder'
Mumbai: While the whole of India is on cloud 9 for Deepika Padukone’s first-ever appearance at the MTV Europe Music Awards, a certain (virtual) self-proclaimed fashion pundit seems to be upset with her attire at the renowned event and chose to mark her down.
It’s Daily Mail.
So Daily Mail has featured Deepika Padukone in their list of ‘worst-dressed guests at the MTV EMAs’ and we are rightly fuming over it.
Padukone presented the best video award to Canadian music sensation The Weeknd for Starboy ft. Daft Punk.
Designed by Monisha Jaisingh and Shaleena Nathani, Padukone was seen in a high-slit trail skirt teamed with heavily embellished bodice and matching bomber jacket, Deepika looked every bit a Queen. From the fashion police to top notch magazines, everyone praised her for the bold choice.
But Daily Mail is critical. Calling her a ‘Bollywood Blunder’, Daily Mail wrote, “Indian actress Deepika Padukone may be stunning but her swamp green bralet and skirt combo did nothing for her sensational figure.”
This is not the first time that Daily Mail has gone horribly wrong with Deepika Padukone. Put some pressure on your mind and try to recollect the time Deepika had gone out for dinner with tennis sensation Novak Djokovic. The tabloid had no clue about who she was. ‘Female companion’ and ‘leggy brunette’ were some of the nouns and adjectives they had come up with to describe her. It is only after fans and media slammed the site, that Daily Mail edited their copy and put her name in the article.
Other names who featured on their list of worst dressed were -- Elettra Lamborghini, Chloe Ferry, Anne Marie and Kenz.
If failing to recognise her has backfired in the past, we wonder what will fans do when they learn about this uncalled for criticism of their favourite superstar.
Old habits die hard.
