Rajkummar Rao to team up with Hansal Mehta in Ajay Devgn production?

Mehta, soon after watching Stree, told Ajay about his idea of casting Rajkummar for the role in the comedy film.

Mumbai: Rajkummar Rao is currently riding high on the success of his latest film, 'Stree'. The horror-comedy is winning hearts all over with Rao getting unanimously praised for his portrayal of a small town lad. Smitten by his performance, Rajkummar's frequent collaborator, filmmaker Hansal Mehta has approached the actor for his forthcoming project which is apparently a comedy film. With Mehta, Rajkummar has worked in four films: Shahid, CityLights, Aligarh and Omerta.

Interestingly, the project will be bankrolled by Ajay Devgn, who is also in awe of the young actor after watching his latest flick.

Sources told a leading daily that Mehta, soon after watching Stree, told Ajay about his idea of casting Rajkummar for the role in the comedy film. Ajay, in fact, is excited about the project as well.

“After Hansal watched Stree, he was certain that Raj can bring his wit and comic timing to his film. Since the two have predominantly dealt with hard-hitting subjects in their past outings, including Omerta (2017), it will be interesting to see them explore the other end of the spectrum,” the source told the daily.

Rajkummar, however, is juggling an arduous schedule at the moment since he is busy with multiple projects and might have to rework his dates if he decides to sign Mehta’s film.

“Considering Raj has Made In China and Anurag Basu’s Imali in the pipeline, he will have to reshuffle his dates. If all goes well, he will soon sign on the dotted line,” the source added.

Meanwhile, Rajkummar’s horror-comedy drama Stree is doing exceptionally well at the box office. In the first week of it's release, Stree has already earned Rs 60.39 crore so far. The film also Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana and Abhishek Banerjee.
