Watch: This short film was Ranbir Kapoor's debut and not Saawariya

The actor is seen playing out a particularly poignant scene from the short film, alongside veteran actor Sharad Saxena.

Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor had made a widely publicised debut in 2008 alongside fellow debutante and then rumoured flame Sonam Kapoor in Sanjay Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’.

The film did succumb to the massive hysteria surrounding Farah Khan’s Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Om Shanti Om’ but that didn’t deter the young actor from establishing himself as a force to reckon with. But, turns out ‘Saawariya’ wasn’t really the actor’s debut.

Ranbir apparently had starred in a short film made by close friend Abhay Chopra, called ‘India, 1964’.

Made in 2006, the movie, that had gotten nominated for the Students’ Oscar, also starred veteran actor Sharad Saxena.

This clip from the film is a particularly poignant one, with Ranbir as a prison breaker facing off with the cops, led by Sharad’s character.

Ranbir will next be seen in Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and Anurag Basu’s ‘Jagga Jasoos’.
