Sanju shared his life story for free? Here's how he's laughing his way to the bank

Sanju, Raj Kumar Hirani’s biopic on Sanjay Dutt has been declared a blockbuster. But everyone is curious to know what the actor is getting out of it. Apparently, Dutt was given a hefty sum for opening up about his life to his friends. It is also rumoured that he was promised a part of the profits.

A source close to the development reveals, “Sanju didn’t come for free. Sanjay Dutt’s team negotiated hard and finally settled for an outright Rs 9-10 crore, and a portion of the box-office profits. Only then were the film’s producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Raj Kumar Hirani allowed access to Dutt’s life.”

Of course, several incidents and characters from the actor’s life were asked to be blocked from the biopic, notably names of prominent girlfriends who are now settled in blissful matrimony. “It was made clear from the beginning that it would be a selective biopic, and Raj Kumar Hirani was okay with that,” says the source.
