Bollywood gets Modi'fied

The Accidental Prime Minister, which is based on Sanjay Baru's book of the same name, a new actor will be seen essaying the role of Modi.

Soon, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have many clones in Bollywood.

In the film, The Accidental Prime Minister, which is based on Sanjay Baru’s book of the same name, a new actor will be seen essaying the role of Modi.

Talking about the decision to cast a lesser-known face in the role, a source in the know says, “The length of the character is not much. So, we opted for a face that resembled the PM a lot rather than a known face.”

The Vijay Ratnakar Gutte-directed film features Anupam Kher in the lead role.

Incidentally, Vivek Oberoi will also essay the role of Modi in a film that will be based on the life of the Prime Minister. Paresh Rawal and his partner Hemal Thakkar too are working on a web series based on the life of Modi and Umesh Shukla of 102 Not Out fame will be directing the series. It is believed that Paresh Rawal will play Modi in the film.

Interestingly, the first time someone played the role of Modi in a film was in a movie called Chand Bujh Gaya, which had Aamir Khan’s brother, Faisal Khan playing the lead. A new actor named Pratap Singh was chosen to play Modi in the film. The film was based on the Gujarat riots and Modi’s government in Gujarat banned the film. It is needless to mention that the then CM of Gujarat, Narendra Modi, was not shown in a positive light.
