Abhishek-Parineeti to team up for Bhansali's Sahir Ludhianvi biopic?

Mumbai: While many Bollywood filmmakers in the past have expressed their wish to make film on the renowned poet and lyricist, it has been reported that Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be producing the project based on Sahir Ludhianvi and his romantic equation with poetess Amrita Pritam. Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan Khan were rumoured to be cast in this film but the two later opted out from the project due to scheduling conflicts.

Now the latest development suggests that Abhishek Bachchan has been finalised to play titular character in the film. Debutante director Jasmeet Reen's who is going to helm the film under Bhansali’s production was keen on Abhishek playing the role. It is also being said that the actor has already started prepping up for the film.

As for the actress, a source mentions that Bhansali found his leading lady in Parineeti, who will play the protagonist's love interest, renowned poetess Amrita Pritam. The forthcoming film is titled as Gustakhiyan.

"If Parineeti commits to Gustakhiyan, this film will mark the first outing of Abhishek and Parineeti as a couple. Bhansali is keen to cast her since the role is a defining one. He felt she has the grace and sensitivity to play a poetess," the source told, further adding that the script has appealed to Parineeti, who is accommodating the dates for the project.

The actress is currently gearing up for the Diwali release of her next Golmaal Again and will start filming for Vipul Shah's Namastay Canada with Arjun Kapoor. After pale 2017, with no film releases, Abhishek Bachchan has interesting lined up of films next year which includes JP Dutta’s Paltan and Priyadarshan’s untitled venture.
