Deepika Padukone on Vishal Bhardwaj's movie: It has stayed with me for two years

Mumbai: Deepika Padukone can be seen as Rani ‘Padmaavat’, which is successfully running in theatres currently. The actress has done this movie a year after she did her Hollywood stint with ‘xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage’. Now Deepika is all set for her next with Vishal Bhardwaj, which also stars Irrfan Khan.

Deepika, who waited for a long time for ‘Padmaavat’ to release along with the makers, said that she wanted to do a lesser emotionally draining film, but the movie is what she got. The actress also added that the story has stayed with her for two years.

While speaking with Hindustan Times, Deepika said, “It’s the first time I will be working with Vishal Bharadwaj and second time with Irrfan Khan. I would have liked to do a slightly less exhausting and emotionally draining film. But I guess this was what was in store for me. This film has also gone through a lot. You know, it’s something that has stayed with me for two years. I feel this woman’s story (which the film is based on) needs to be told.”
