Star wives aren't happy with their husbands locking lips on-screen!
Kissing, intense love-making scenes and the likes are no longer taboo in Indian cinema. Most actors these days are quite comfortable enacting them.
But back home, the wives aren’t happy. Television star and big-screen aspirant, Gurmeet Choudhary recently learnt this the hard way. After his wife saw his smoldering smooches with co-star Sana Khan in a forthcoming film, the two apparently had a massive showdown in Sri Lanka over the issue.
When Ajay Devgn did his first screen kiss and intense ‘making out’ in Shivaay, he didn’t tell wife Kajol about it. She found out after the film was complete. What kind of upheavals ensued in the Devgn household is not known. On Kapil Sharma’s show, when a mention of the scene was made, Ajay sniggered, but Kajol didn’t look amused. One thing is for sure. Bollywood star wives are not comfortable with their spouses kissing on screen.

This is why even Shah Rukh Khan has an unwritten no-kissing clause, which he broke just once for his favourite director, Yash Chopra in Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
During his brief career, Imran Khan also had an unofficial embargo on kissing scenes, which he broke once for a liplock with Anushka Sharma in Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola. Imran apparently declined when told to enact a kissing scene with Kangana Ranaut in Katti Batti.
Ayushmann Khurrana had hell to pay when he agreed to a liplock with his now forgotten co-star Pooja Salvi in Nautanki Saala. Ayushmann’s wife threw a fit and almost walked out on him. He had to promise it wouldn’t happen again.
A “happily” married actor known for his commitment to getting the role right, once said, “No wife likes to see her man kissing another woman, even if it’s just for the camera. When I had to do a kissing scene, I told the director to meet my wife and get her permission. She met the director and told him she was cool with the kiss. I double-checked with her that night and she said it was okay. But after the scene was shot, she moved into the guest room and wouldn’t talk to me for days. So I’d advise all Indian actors to think twice before locking lips on screen.”
Akshay Kumar kissed Shilpa Shetty in Dhadkan in a honeymoon sequence. But before the film’s release, he was engaged to marry Twinkle Khanna and the kiss was edited out. Akshay has not locked lips with any actress in recent times. He told a friend that romance and intimacy can be expressed even without kissing.But would he have felt the same if there was no wife waiting at home?
Tollywood wives take a call
Telugu films these days are not shying away from liplock scenes and Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun are two actors who have kissed several actresses. While the kisses aren’t as intense as that of Bollywood, reports suggest that the wives are usually kept in the loop. In an interview a while ago, Puri Jagannadh (whose film Businessman saw Mahesh Babu lock lips with Kajal Aggarwal) said that only after Mahesh’s wife, Namrata had seen and approved the kissing scene did they go ahead with it. Allu Arjun on his part, after his marriage hasn’t indulged in any liplock scene.
