Despite dozens of films being announced, is Sanjay Dutt really out of work?

The actor seems to be severely out of work, even six months post his release from Yerwada jail.

Mumbai: Sanjay Dutt has lived the tumultuous superstar’s life with much aplomb. The actor has his fair share of cults, more than desired share of controversies. He’s been the style icon for an entire generation, and spent a few years of his much valued life at the Yerwada Jail, rigorously imprisoned by TADA court for illegal possession of arms and ammunitions. Dutt spent a good six years, collectively, and got released on 25 February, 2016.

The ‘good Samaritan Munnabhai’ of Bollywood, who was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘PK’ in a supporting role, has been associated with umpteen films, post his release.

Bollywood filmmakers were eagerly awaiting his comeback. But dismally enough, the anticipation hasn’t translated to films rolling, as the star is yet to commence work on a film, six months down the line.

Dutt has been spending time with his family and travelling across the world, but a bound script and rolling cameras seem nowhere to be in sight. The actor, had greenlit Sidharth Anand’s action drama and even been training extensively under Shifu Kanishka Sharma to physically habituate himself for a full-fledged action oriented movie.

However, Sanjay reportedly developed cold feet once he read the script and began drawing parallels with multiple Hollywood flicks. The actor was then supposed to begin work on ‘Marco Bhau,’ to be helmed by Shelly Chopra, sister of acclaimed director-producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

His much publicised and massively awaited return on reel as ‘Munnabhai’, has temporarily been put on the backburner, as Rajkumar Hirani is consumed by Dutt’s on biopic that has Kapoor scion, Ranbir, playing him on-screen.

Extremely hyped sequels 'Khalnayak Returns,' 'Total Dhamaal' and an untitled film with director Rohit Jugraj Chauhan have also been in the news but there has absolutely been no confirmations on these films.

Reportedly, the actor is taking his own sweet time to sign a film on the dotted line, so he can spend quality time with his family, but seems like nothing is really working out for the actor as planned, as the only time the actor has faced the camera in these months was when he shot with kids for a brand endorsement.

An old advertisement featuring Sanjay Dutt ranting borderline misogynist lines out made a comeback recently, subjected him to fresh backlash and criticism, didn’t help the actor’s current discomfiture much, either.

The actor must be hoping the current lull is temporary and that the grand comeback that the media had declared to have been awaiting him, will come to him soon enough. But going by the current trend, the actor is going to be 'unemployed' for a long time to come.
