Priyanka Chopra may be all set to play Zaira Wasim’s mother in Shonali Bose’s film The Sky Is Pink, but the team is facing a practical problem — Priyanka doesn’t look old enough to be an 18-year-old’s mother.
Says a source close to the project, "Priyanka didn’t hesitate for a minute before saying yes to Shonali’s film. The subject grabbed her attention immediately, and she didn’t mind playing Zaira Wasim’s mother. She played a mother to a teenager nine years ago in Yash Raj Films’ Pyaar Impossible. So why would she have a problem now? The question is — how can this sensuous stunner be made to look like the mother of an 18-year old?"
We hear that the team may resort to the use of prosthetics to make the actress look more convincing in her role.
Interestingly, Meher Vij, who played Zaira’s mother in Secret Superstar is just 14 years older than her. So it seems our leading ladies no longer have a problem with being made to look older on screen. A decade ago Aparna Sen had to shelve her film because no major heroine was willing to play mother to a 12-year-old. Even Bipasha Basu, who was nearly finalised for the project, chickened out at the last minute.
