Ajay never misses my birthday; Nysa once baked me a cake: Kajol on her birthday
Mumbai: Powerhouse of talent, Kajol, who turned 43 on Saturday, revealed to an entertainment website how she and her superstar husband Ajay Devgn like to celebrate her birthday.
Talking about the importance of this day in her life, the ‘My Name is Khan’ actress said, “I am still very very excited about my birthday (laughs). I love my birthday. I think this is one day in the year which belongs to me and me alone. Yes, I know there are 100s of people born on August 5 but I am very happy with the fact that I get to call it my day. I take my birthday very seriously.”
She also revealed that Ajay, who she has been married to for 18 years, is never out of town on her birthdays. “He is not the kind of a person who gets excited over a birthday or a birthday present. He and I, we both like to say that it is more of an everyday situation than a once in a year plan. So, he is more like he will be there. He makes sure that he is there for my birthday, which is the most important thing, considering his busy life and how many releases he has in hands right now.”
In fact, the superstar hubby had once gone out of his way to organise the perfect birthday party for his ladylove while she was shooting away. Talking about the best birthday moment ever, an elated Kajol shared, “I know one birthday where he organised everything for me. I was on an outdoor shoot and I came back and he kept everything ready from the food to the flowers to inviting everyone. It was really sweet and touching because he knows I like to have people over. I was very happy because I know he is not someone to do all this but he organised this for me. I was really touched.”
Apparently, she reminds her husband one week in advance, lest he forgets the most crucial day in her life. “No (if Ajay Devgn forgets her birthday). I remind him a week in advance, 5 days in advance, 4,3,2 days in advance. So, I keep reminding him till the day I wake up and then I call him and I wait, if I have to. Mostly, he is there with me, so he knows that it is her birthday so better wish her.”
Kajol, who is a mother to two children—Nysa and Yug—has never been turned down by her teenage daughter on any of the birthdays.
“Lots of things actually. Once Nysa baked a cake for me and she made me sushi once. The one thing that I love about her is that on my birthdays she never says no to me for anything. She is like, "okay, it's your birthday, you are allowed everything." So it is a very special day for me when my daughter doesn't say no to me for anything at all.”
