Diana Penty's happy to be back

Actress Diana Penty is back to B'town, after she first made news with her debut film Cocktail in 2012.

It has been four long years since her first stint on the big screen with Cocktail, but Diana Penty insists that though she didn’t take up any film in between, she has been very busy. “Well! I was busy doing things related to marketing and I have been travel blogging. During this time I got the opportunity to travel to many countries,” says Diana. “Apart from that I was also interested in wildlife photography and I even did the interiors of my home. Also, I was busy reading a few scripts. There was no pressure, so I waited patiently to get my second film,” she adds.

And that wait has been worth it. Diana is now back with a bang opposite Abhay Deol in Happy Bhag Jayegi. “This character is poles apart from what I played in Cocktail. It was indeed challenging. I was not in my comfort zone, which also motivated me to take it up,” says Diana, who plays Harpreet Happy Kaur in the film. Talking about how similar Harpreet and Diana are, she says, “Harpreet is bold, independent, brave and does not care about people’s opinions. Like her, I too am totally independent. It will be very difficult for people to make me do things which I am not convinced with,” she says.

So how was it facing the camera after four years? “I have become camera friendly. But I always like to perfect myself before facing the cameras,” she says. Diana is full of praise for her co-star Abhay Deol, “I must thank Abhay who helped me do my best. Even when he was not in the scene he would be there on the sets to give me the cue so that I could emote well. He is a selfless actor,” she says. What about a film down South? Is she open to acting in one? She says, “Well, I like to take one step at a time. If it has to happen it will. I believe in never saying no to anything.”
