When Zaira Wasim left a struggling Aamir Khan in awe during Dangal shooting

Having spent 30 years in the film industry, the Dhoom 3 actor reveals that no matter what the challenges are, the idea is to not give up.

He is called the Mr Perfectionist for his sheer dedication and commitment towards his roles. From Andaz Apna Apna to Rangeela, Lagaan to PK, Aamir not even once has stepped down from his standards of giving the best to his fans.

And having worked for 30 years the actor doesn’t consider himself as a born actor, rather finds actors Naseeruddin Shah, Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, Om Puri and Zaira Wasim of that caliber. “Whenever I watch Dilip Kumar, Naseeruddin Shah, Amitabh Bachchan, Raghuveer Yadav and Zaira Wasim, I find them the powerhouse of exuberant performances. Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan perform effortlessly, they are utterly natural. I do not possess that exuberance in my performances. I indeed have to work a lot to be able to come up to that level. In fact, I enjoy acting and human psychology but to be able to reach there it takes me some time,” says Aamir.

And he is all praises for his Dangal co-star Zaira Wasim. “Zaria instantly caught hold of the dialect and the language, she was faster than me in doing it.

However, it took me about four months to get the hang of the language. I was indeed struggling with the shoot as well. It seemed to me as if Zaira has been speaking this language right from her childhood. However, I had to work hard on any language,” smiles Aamir.

And despite the challenges, the actor believes strength lies in not fearing anything. “In spite of all these weaknesses my strength is that I never fear failures at all. I hold a pivotal sense of performing an act. Also, I can rehearse innumerable times. I am, however, very happy that after being in the films for almost 30 years I am getting the same love from the audience. It is this love that keeps an actor going,” he concludes.
