The big Box Office clash

Hindi remakes of Hollywood films like The Girl on the Train and The Fault In Our Stars are set to clash along with the Shakuntala Devi biopic.

It is a Hollywood clash in Bollywood, or rather the clash of the Hollywood remakes in India. May 8 has two popular films being remade by international studios with an invariable clash — Dil Bechara is a film inspired by the book and film The Fault In Our Stars, which is directed by Mukesh Chhabra. The film, starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjana Sanghi and Saif Ali Khan, is backed by Fox Star Studios. The Girl On The Train (Working Title) is again a remake of a Hollywood thriller by the same name. Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, the film stars Parineeti Chopra, Aditi Rao Hydari, Kirti Kulhari and Avinash Tiwari and is backed by Reliance Entertainment.

“Hollywood itself sees a clash between various films and they know to market the movies in the given scenario, hence no one is really perturbed by the clash. Both are different films in terms of genre and treatment, and hence there is a chance that both may do well,” opines a trade analyst.

The films will also clash with Shakuntala Devi – The Human Computer starring Vidya Balan, which is a biopic on the life of the Indian mathematical genius. Meanwhile, Coolie No 1 starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan will arrive a week earlier.
