Unfortunate that it took me 12 years to do film for the land: Kangana on Manikarnika

Kangana Ranaut said her film 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' is made only from the facts that have been documented.

Mumbai: Bollywood diva Kangana Ranaut is not only known for her impeccable fashion sense but also known to put her heart and soul to every character of hers. She would soon be seen in the movie Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. It is a period drama based on life and story of India's first female warrior queen Rani Lakshmibai, who was the Queen of Jhansi. The teaser and Hindi trailer has got stupendous responses from the audience and media.

The Tamil trailer of Manikarnika was presented by Kangana and producers in Chennai. While talking to media, she said, “In my 12 years of career, I never got to do a film like this. I don't think we make such kind of movies. Shows how indulgent we are.”

Of late, there are many biopics being made in India and there are a lot of debates regarding how authentic the content is. However, Manikarnika is different as it is made only from the facts that have been documented.

Elaborating further the National-Award winning actor said, "We have tried to keep the history as precise as possible. Like how Indians don't support Indians. When I signed this film my first thought was 'How come nobody has done a film on Jhansi ki Rani yet?' So, I consider it a stroke of luck that I’m doing it. Rani Laxmi Bai was known for her rebellious attitude. Was I able to relate to her character? Naturally As a woman, she had gone through a lot. She got married when she was 15 or so. She was a true patriot who wanted her country to flourish. It’s an honour to be able to pay a tribute to her through our upcoming film Manikarnika."

Recently, Kangana along with Producer Kamal Jain and writer KV Vijayendra Prasad unveiled the Telugu trailer in Hyderabad.

The film produced by Zee Studios in association with Kamal Jain will be hitting the theatres on 25th January 2019 simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.
