FDA to send notice to Vidya Balan for promoting cough syrup in Tumhari Sulu?
Mumbai: Vidya Balan’s ‘Tumhari Sulu’ had met with widespread critical acclaim upon release, also coughing up above average box-office numbers.
However, into its third week, the film seems to be facing a fresh hiccup.
If the latest reports are to be believed, Vidya Balan and the makers of the film could be facing legal action for endorsing a cough syrup. The film’s production house, T-Series and north India based pharmaceutical company, Torque maybe at the receiving end for not adding an advisory before endorsing.
In an advertisement, Vidya can be seen saying, “Sulu ke har safar mein uska saathi, Torex cough syrup ho, toh alvida khasi (Torex cough syrup supports Sulu through every journey of hers, so goodbye to coughs)”.
FDA commissioner Pallavi Darade said the ad violated basic norm of advisory caution, reported Indian Express.
Helmed by Suresh Triveni, the film also starred Manav Kaul and Neha Dhupia.
