Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Priyanka Chopra are keen to collaborate again after Bajirao Mastani, but somehow the stars never align in their favour.
SLB was keen to cast Priyanka as the radical poet Amrita Pritam in the proposed film on her tumultuous love affair with poet-lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi, but then Abhishek (Bachchan) doesn’t work with Priyanka so it got scrapped.
We now hear that Bhansali wanted the actress to do a special number in Inshallah. “But Salman put his foot down about wanting Daisy Shah for the number,” says a source. According to the source, that was the main reason why Inshallah fell apart.
The director and actor were once best friends. Salman supported Bhansali when the latter launched himself as a director in Khamoshi. They subsequently worked together in the iconic Hum…Dil De Chuke Sanam, but fell out when Bhansali opted for Shah Rukh Khan in Devdas.
