At the trailer launch of his magnum opus 2.O, a sequel to his blockbuster Enthiran in Shankar's direction, Superstar Rajinikanth cleared the air over whether he would enter politics and start his own party or not.
Because it took such a long time coming, many were apprehensive whether 2.O will hit the marquee or not. Even if it comes late, it should come properly and with a sure shot bang. And I meant only the film,” Rajini said with his trademark laugh.
In his words was the ample hint that his party too, which seems to have taken some time coming, might come soon with a bang. Those among the huge gathering who got the meaning of what he said were sure that Rajini meant his political party when he said ‘film’ and gave him a thunderous greeting with screams and whistles.
The grand event on Saturday was graced by Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, who makes his foray into south Indian films, Amy Jackson, AR Rahman, Resul Pookutty and others. A surprise visitor on the occasion was none other than Rajini’s elder brother Sathyanarayana Rao Gaikwad.
Rajini begins in English
“It is nice that all Indian media are under one roof. I extend my warm welcome to Shankar, my crew, Akshay, the press and my fans. I am happy that my philosopher, guide and elder brother Sathya Narayana Rao is here,” Rajini said.
2.O will be a super-duper hit
“Mark my words, 2.0 will be a super duper hit. All credit goes to producer Subashkaran who had invested nearly Rs 600 crores in the project. And he has put in such enormous money not because of Akshay Kumar or me but he had so much faith in Shankar, who has never failed to entertain and meet the expectations of the masses. Shankar is a great filmmaker who has been proving himself for the past 25 years. He can be called the Indian James Cameron and Spielberg. He's a magician. We need to preserve such filmmakers.”
2.O has international message
The film is an action thriller and entertainer and has an international message - the planet is not just for human beings but also for other creatures. How this modern technology has its adverse effects on other living things is the larger message. It is for the masses, intellectuals and also pseudo intellectuals (laughs).
Laurels for Akshay Kumar
Hats off to Akshay Kumar for his hard work. It is definitely worth.
Subhashkaran’s heartwarming gesture
When Shankar started the project, I was not keeping well. Somehow, I thought I would manage and began the shoot. After seven days, I became so sick that I lost my confidence if I can be part of such mammoth project and hence called Shankar and told him that I wanted to return the advance and come out of the project. But Shankar was so caring and he encouraged me to do the shoot at my convenience. He even suggested that I don’t wear the robot suit, which weighed 14 kgs. Again, my health was not alright during the crucial climax scheduled at Delhi for 40 days, with about 1,000 people working in the sequence. I was once again apprehensive and asked for some more time. The reply Subashkaran gave touched my heart. He said, ‘Not 4 months break, you can even take 4 years break and we will wait for you. Otherwise I will drop the project’. I am happy to find such a great friend like him.
