Proud of Modi for incredibly carrying out surgical strikes: Adnan Sami

Adnan Sami has praised Prime Minister Modi for the surgical strikes and feels Pakistan should thank India.

Mumbai: The Pakistan-born singer, who had earned Indian citizenship earlier this year, expressed his gratitude towards the Prime Minister of India for carrying out a well-planned strike against terrorists across border. The singer has also said that Pakistan should be thankful to India for the work it has done.

In an awards show in Delhi, the singer said that he is proud of the PM for ‘a brilliant, successful, mature and strategic strike against terrorism in Pakistan- occupied Kashmir, last week.’

Sami, who has been vehemently criticised by Pakistan and also labelled a traitor for supporting the surgical strikes, feels that Pakistan should be thanking India for taking a stand against something both the nations have been a victim of. He was reported as saying, “My tweets were against a common enemy. An enemy that has been hurting both the nations and the rest of the world too. If anything, Pakistan should thank India for finishing the terrorists.”

He further added, “For years, Pakistan has been saying that they too are victims of terrorism. Here, when your neighbour is helping you out, you don’t want to even acknowledge it.”

When asked about him being branded a traitor in his birth land, the singer defended himself saying that he had never uttered a word against Pakistan.

“I never said a word against Pakistan. They interpreted it in their own way and that’s why I wrote that they see Pakistan and terrorists as the same,” said Adnan.

Although Pakistan criticised him and called him names, the singer said he is not afraid of anyone except for The Almighty. Should a situation arise where he must go back to Pakistan, he would.
