It appears that Dutt would like to make his comeback with his old friend Vidhu Vinod Chopra's next, instead of Anand's film.

There has been widespread speculation about Sanjay Dutt’s comeback vehicle. Initially, it was announced that it would be Siddharth Anand’s action film that would mark the return of the actor to the big screen. But not too long ago, there were murmurs suggesting that Anand’s project has been “postponed.” The truth can now be told.
That project has been shelved. Says a source close to Dutt, “He heard Siddharth’s script and did not like it. Rather than prolonging the process, Dutt preferred to move on. He will now go ahead with Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Marco Bhau, which is an emotional father-daughter story. When Sanjay heard it, he could immediately connect with it.”
