Recently there were rumours that Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez were cast alongside Amitabh Bachchan for Aankhen 2, directed by Anees Bazmee.
But the director put an end to all speculations. “There are many names and there will be many more names discussed and tossed up. But the fact is that there is only one person who has officially signed on that dotted line, and that is Amitabh Bachchan. The official announcement on the film can only come up once we sign people up,” he says.
The first part of Aankhen also starred Amitabh Bachachan, along with Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Sen. It was directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah for producer Gaurang Doshi. Gaurang and Vipul are both out of the project; the sequel is being produced by Rajtaru Studios.
Meanwhile Anees is working on trying to release his film Pagalpanti a few weeks ahead of schedule. The film is now slated to hit the screens on November 8 after previously being scheduled for November 22. “We are more or less complete and we are arriving on November 8. We will wrap the film at the soonest. We have some very good music and the film looks very grand and funny,” he says about the film, which stars Anil Kapoor and John Abraham.
