Will begin my next film with Salman in July: Kabir Khan
New Delhi: Having created box office magic with their last outing 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', filmmaker Kabir Khan and superstar Salman Khan are coming together again for a new film, which will have a political backdrop.
Kabir, who was in the capital to receive his National Award for 'Bajranji Bhaijaan", which was named best popular film providing wholesome entertainment, said he will begin shooting the film in July.
"I am starting my next film in July with Salman. It is also a very nice, warm human story, with a larger-than-life political backdrop. That never goes away with me since I come from a documentary background," Kabir told PTI.
The filmmaker and Salman, 50, first collaborated on YRF's 'Ek Tha Tiger' in 2012. 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' was about a little Pakistani girl, who loses her way on the Indo-Pak border and finds herself in India. Salman's character finds the girl and takes it upon himself to re-unite her with her family in Pakistan.
The film also starred Kareena Kapoor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and child actress Harshaali Malhotra. Talking about his National award win, the director said
winning it is always special because it holds credibility as compared to other honors.
"A National award is still an award that holds credibility. I feel happy to be given such an honour. You feel special and you feel good," he said.
