Richa turned down Anarkali of Aarah right before signing the film: Avinash Das

Swara Bhaskar’s next, Anarkali of Aarah has caught everyone’s attention, thanks to glimpses of her performance. However, the movie’s director, Avinash Das, reveals that Richa Chadha was the first choice.

“I had first approached Richa for this role, and she was even ready to do it. Finally, she felt I’m a first time director, and it has an individual producer, so she was unsure whether the movie would ever release. So, because of that, she backed out of the film. Just before signing the film, she refused to do it,” he reveals.

Anarkali of Aarah is the story of an erotic singer, who decides to fight back after a powerful man molests her during an event. Debutant Avinash feels that this film would not have been possible without Swara. “I also feel that had Swara not done this movie, it wouldn’t have been such a powerful film, because she’s so vocal. And the way she’s justified her character, I don’t think anyone would’ve done that. She’s so energetic, and I do feel Anarkali is a movie we couldn’t have made without Swara,” Avinash says.
