Spiriting the Rooh out
This Janhvi Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao starrer was called Rooh-Afza earlier and then was changed to Roohi Afza. The film is based on a woman who made people to put with her singing and would haunt men, Rooh Afza was announced with a lot of pomp. But when the owners of 112-year-old concentrated squash brand called Rooh Afza took umbrage to the use of their brand name for a horror-comedy, the makers first changed the name to Roohi Afza and then to completely make sure that they are trouble-free legally or otherwise, moved to a title called Roohi Afzana. We noticed that on Thursday when the makers of the film put out a video with the new title.
“The rose drink is famous and manufactured in India and Pakistan. It has existed in India since 1907 and just like how Zandu Balm took offense to their brand name being used in Dabangg, the owners of the brand had a problem. Hence the title has been changed,” informs a trade source.
Roohi Afzana is being directed by Hardik Mehta who has been a part of films like Chaar Cutting where he was one of the directors and another film called Kaamyaab.
