Box-office: Dangal just 5 short of 300 cr domestic gross, closes in on Sultan

The film released on December 23, 2016, and has already crossed 500 crore worldwide gross.

Mumbai: Aamir Khan has alwaya harboured a penchant for achieving the unprecedented.

He did it with 'Ghajini,' he did it again with '3 Idiots,' another encore with 'PK,' and now he's all set to push it even farther with Nitesh Tiwari's 'Dangal'.

The film, that released on December 23, 2016, has grossed approximately 295 crore rupees domestically, and is all set to be the fastest to enter the 300-crore club.

It is also well on course to break through Sultan's lifetime collections.

The two films, incidentally, were both set to the backdrop of wrestling. The film is also all set to be the first to gross over 100 crores in its second week.

'Dangal,' going strong on its terrific word-of-mouth, is expected to have an extended shelf-life, very much like Aamir's last release, 'PK,' which eventually went on to become the highest grosser of all-time, in Indian cinema.
