Bonding with Junior Bachchan in London

Abhishek Srinivas from Bengaluru got to meet Abhishek Bachchan and watch the Chelsea VS Manchester United match live in London.

What if you could win a chance to experience one of the biggest matches of this Premier League — the Chelsea VS Manchester United match, Live, at Stamford Bridge in London, with Abhishek Bachchan? Abhishek Srinivas from Bengaluru was one of the three winners of an online raffle on buymytime.com and got to watch the match with the star in London. The youngster Abhishek shares his experiences of watching the match with this namesake.

The 28-year-old man who has lived here all his life and is a computer science engineer shares how it all happened, “I’ve been a sports person and have represented the country at World Championships for Ultimate Frisbee. Over the last year, my teammates and I have been raising money via the crowd funding website Ketto, for our athletes to be able to travel and represent the country. And I received an email from Ketto talking about a certain Samarthanam trust for the disabled trying to raise money for their blind cricket team. I’ve seen what it is to play sport at the highest level and have also known the perils of not having enough financial support to be able to successfully do that. I also happened to see that this campaign was supported by this online company and what the prize entailed. I contributed whatever I could to the trust, although I never believed in raffles or lucky draws.”

This was the start of a series of experiences that he would cherish forever. “I’ve played football for 15 years and Chelsea has been a club I’ve supported ever since I’ve had cable TV. I haven’t met too many celebrities, so I went into this trip keeping my expectations as low as winning the lucky draw! But meeting my namesake Bachchan was indeed a highlight. A close second to the 4-0 trashing we got to witness from some of the best seats in the stadium! I was at the Champions club dining area excited about watching my first ever football game in England and in walked the Junior Bachchan. We greeted each other and the first surprise came when he said he knew about Ultimate Frisbee and we started speaking about it. Our conversations jumped across from football to Kabaddi to past experiences at English stadiums to life and careers! . He was courteous enough to welcome me to one of the football games at Chennai. Watching the game with him was like watching it with any of the other 43,000 odd fans at the stadium. Fun, loud, passionate, cheering on everything Chelsea did for the next 90 minutes and witnessing four goals and countless moments of joy.”
