When the Vikram Batra biopic starring Sidharth Malhotra was conceived, Karan Johar wasn’t a part of the project. It was supposed to be produced by Shabbir Boxwala and his team at Friday Cine Entertainment Private Limited. But the film was moving at a snail’s pace and Sidharth decided to seek Karan’s help in order to have it made in the right manner. And now Karan is finally in the process of acquiring the film that will be produced by Dharma Productions.
Rakhee Bajpai, the legal head of Dharma Productions has issued a public notice a couple of days ago asking if anyone has any claim on the film before it is actually acquired by Dharma.
“The film has also got a name now. It will be called Shershah, and will be directed by Vishnu Vardhan and written by Sandeep Shrivastava. Dharma is now acquiring it from Friday Cine Entertainment Private Limited to produce, develop and distribute,” says a source. Shershah is a biopic on the Kargil War hero Vikram Batra who was also awarded a Param Vir Chakra posthumously.
