Vijay Sethupathi Chose SRK Over Aamir Khan?

Jawan is all set to hit the screens on September 7 and Vijay Sethupathi is playing the antagonist in the film.

Vijay Sethupathi, renowned for his remarkable performances in Indian cinema, is all set to grace the silver screen with his role as a villain in the upcoming film Jawan, scheduled for release on December 15. This venture adds to his impressive filmography, which includes iconic roles in movies like Vikram, Master, Vikram Vedha, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, and more. His debut in the OTT realm with The Family Man by Raj & DK also garnered praise. Interestingly, Jawan marks the Hindi film debut of South star Nayanthara, directed by Atlee and featuring Shah Rukh Khan.

For those unaware, Vijay Sethupathi's Bollywood debut was in the crime drama Mumbaikar, which premiered on JioCinema in June this year. However, what many don't know is that he was initially slated to make his Bollywood debut alongside Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha, released last year.

Sethupathi initially accepted Aamir's offer for the role when they met in Chennai. He was deeply impressed by Aamir's storytelling skills and immediately agreed. However, unforeseen circumstances, including the COVID-19 pandemic, disrupted their plans. Vijay Sethupathi had a tight schedule with five Telugu projects in various stages of production post-lockdown, making it impossible for him to accommodate Laal Singh Chaddha in his calendar.

Subsequently, Naga Chaitanya stepped into the role originally offered to Vijay Sethupathi in Laal Singh Chaddha, marking his Bollywood debut in the 2022 film. Despite its box office struggles, this development led to Naga Chaitanya's entry into the Hindi film industry.

Regarding Jawan, directed by Atlee, it promises to be a thrilling cinematic experience, with Vijay Sethupathi portraying a formidable villain alongside stars Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara. The film also features a cameo appearance by Deepika Padukone and is set to premiere on September 7, 2023.
