Amitabh Bachchan back with Rumi Jaffery
Rumi Jaffery, who has written over 16 films for David Dhawan, is now helming a film with Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role; the details of which are yet to be announced. “Amitji is fond of Rumi’s writings and he liked the script. But the other actors are to still be finalised and a formal announcement will only be made when they are on board,” says a trade source. But this is not the first time Rumi is directing Big B, who starred in his 2008 film God Tussi Great Ho.
The film also starred Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra and was banned across theatres in the UAE after a lot of complaints were received from movie patrons in the Gulf about the film ‘violating Islamic teachings’. Rumi’s last film as a director, Gali Gali Chor Hai was in the year 2012 starring Akshaye Khanna, which fell by the wayside and prompted Rumi to take a break from wielding the megaphone. But the future looks promising and the writer-director also shares a good rapport with Big B. The casting of the other characters in the film will also be done shortly.
