Sonakshi's Akira trumps women centric Neerja, Sarbjit with its first day collections

Compared to other women centric films that released this year, Akira' is leading the list by a great margin.

Mumbai: Sonakshi Sinha starrer Akira hit the silver screens yesterday and the film, which received rave reviews from people, opened to a good start. Packed with action and layered with right amount of mystery, Sonakshi’s Akira managed to create the right kind of noise.

The film has not only generated good reaction but has also earned good money at the box office. On its first day itself, A.R. Murugadoss’ film succeeded in minting Rs. 5.15 crore. Compared to other women centric films released this year such as ‘Sarbjit’ and ‘Neerja’, Sonakshi Sinha’s ‘Akira’ is leading the list nu a great margin.

Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘Neerja’, which was won many praises and awards, earned Rs. 4.7 crore on its first day, whereas Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s ‘Sarbjit’ collected Rs. 3.69 crore at the box office on day 1.

If ‘Akira’ keeps performing the way it is, it will surely pick up speed this weekend and cross Rs 10 crore collections in 3 days itself.
