While 2018 was filled with blissful and lavish star weddings, 2019 seems to be the year of breakups in Bollywood. As on last count, there were at least three high-profile couples in Bollywood on the verge of calling it quits.
After Dia Mirza publicly called off her marriage to filmmaker Sahil Sangha on Thursday, another shocking breakup has come to light. Director Prakash Kovelamudi (son of Tollywood top director K. Raghavendra Rao) and writer Kanika Dhillon, currently celebrating their successful partnership in Judgementall Hai Kya have called it quits, though hopefully they would continue working together in the future too. However, a source who has worked with the estranged couple reveals that their split was a well-known fact among the cast and crew of the film. Apparently they had parted few years back!
“We all knew that they were not together for a long time. But they decided to keep their split away from the media glare to avoid the movie from getting affected,” says the source.
While one wouldn't like to comment on the couple's personal equation, the timing of their public breakup, less than a week after the release of Judgementall Hai Kya, does appear rather strange. Rumours and hushed whispers speak of a third person’s presence in the Prakash-Kanika marriage. While no concrete proof has emerged on that front, it is indeed a tragedy to see such a talented combo drifting apart.
Meanwhile, an actor from Judgementall Hai Kya declares, “Now that everyone knows about their separation, I don’t think Kanika and Prakash will work together again.”
