Mumbai: Looks like Tanmay Bhat’s woes are far from abating. The comedian recently faced backlash for insulting Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar in a Snapchat video. Now, in a shocking turn of events, it has surfaced that a song he had penned for the upcoming film ‘Shorgul’ has been dropped.
According to reports, Tanmay had written a song called Pehle Aap, sung by Daler Mehndi for the film starring Jimmy Sheirgill and Ashutosh Rana. But after his recent controversy, producers wanted to end their association with the comedian hence they took the call of deleting the track.
Co-producer Aman Singh confirmed the news saying that in light of recent happening and prevailing sentiment amongst people, they have unanimously decided to let go of the song.
Bollywood has also reacted sharply to the comedian's portrayal of the music and cricket icons with many actors slamming the video. While some like Anupam Kher, Riteish Deshmukh claimed it is in poor taste, others like Sonam Kapoor voiced their support to the comedian.
Film wing of Raj Thackeray-led MNS, Chitrapat Sena, has also urged the police to block the video and its link online. The MNS also threatened to beat him up.
Taking strong exception to the video, the Shiv Sena also asked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take stringent action against AIB and Bhat for allegedly seeking to vitiate social harmony by mocking the national legends.
Meanwhile, police have written to Facebook and YouTube requesting them to block the video and its link....
