Hollywood ‘extracts’ Randeep Hooda

Meanwhile, Randeep is elated to be a part of the project.

One of Randeep Hooda’s dreams to play the Sikh soldier in the Rajkumar Santoshi film on the battle of Saragarhi may be incomplete, but the actor — who was last seen in Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal and will soon be seen on Eid in the Salman Khan starrer Radhe — is set to make his big digital debut with the Hollywood production named Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth.

Apart from Hooda, the film written by Joe Russo of the Russo brothers for an OTT platform, also stars Indian actors Pankaj Tripathi, Geetanjali Thapa, Prashant Narayanan and Priyanshu Painyuli.

“Indian actors have not been seen doing action in Hollywood films. Deepika Padukone got a taste of it in XXX with Vin Diesel, and now Randeep has got some major action scenes in the film,” say trade sources about the film, which is being shot in Ahmedabad as well as Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Randeep is elated to be a part of the project. “I might be the first Indian male actor to do such an action-packed role in a Hollywood film. It was a great experience working with Hemsworth, Russo brothers and the director, Sam Hargrave. It is described as a wrecking ball in the script. He’s had a run in the military and is working for Ovi’s father. We rehearsed twice a day for 10 days for the action sequences,” he had said in a previous statement.

The film, earlier titled as Dhaka, will stream from April 24.
